Last month I told you about the improvements to measuring distances with LT 2010. Today I'll cover another part of the command -- measuring Areas and Volumes.
The command procedure hasn't changed a bit -- you still pick points or objects to define the area, and you can still subtract areas from other areas (as long as you remembered to start by "adding" an area). The difference in LT 2010 is that it's easier now to see what you're doing.
For example, let's say I want to get the area of this floor plan:
Thanks to the new highlighting, I can see the area I've picked:
And if I want to subtract the area of the kitchen and laundry, I can see that too:
The Volume option works just like Area, except that at the end you're prompted to specify a height. AutoCAD LT then does the math for you, multiplying the area by the height to show you a volume.
