Press and drag uses one less click, I've tried the other way and find it less convenient. Good that there's a choice though.

In AutoCAD, I prefer the two-point method (click, let go, drag, click) because I find having to hold down the mouse button tires your hand out after a while.

But with other programs (ie. word processing related) I prefer clink-n-drag. Go figure.

As an interesting side note (after reading this article), I investigated to see if the two-point click would work in non-AutoCAD programs - and I discovered in my mouse settings there is a feature called "Click Lock" which makes your mouse behave like AutoCAD's two-point click method.

I am going to experiment with that and see how it goes.
