Announcing Autodesk BIM 360

Autodesk BIM 360 is the next generation of BIM, for anyone, anywhere, at any time. Is this a big deal? You bet:

New cloud-based services for multidiscipline collaboration that support model coordination and intelligent object data exchange will transform the way architects, engineers, contractors and owners collaborate in real time and manage as well as distribute building and civil infrastructure data. Autodesk BIM 360 offers civil engineers, transportation and urban planning professionals new cloud-based services to collaborate between geographically dispersed teams to explore design concepts, create and review proposals and conduct feasibility evaluations.

At least, we think it’s a big deal—I hope you agree!

Autodesk BIM 360 services include:

• Clash detection, coordination and collaboration
• Conceptual design and feasibility evaluation
• Field management, commissioning and handover
• Energy analysis
• Structural analysis
• Visualization

The first 3 features in this list are new services, while the remaining three take advantage of services provided through the main Autodesk 360 platform.

Autodesk 360 Sync Hotfix Now Available

A new hotfix has been released for persistent Autodesk 360 sync error messages in the system tray.

Get it here, and—trust me—read the README. This hotfix involves a few manual replacements of files, and you need the readme to know which ones.

Service Pack 2 for AutoCAD 2012 and AutoCAD LT 2012

It’s been quite a week for announcements, and we’re not done yet. But don’t worry, tips & tricks will be back again soon.

A new service pack for AutoCAD 2012 and AutoCAD LT 2012 is now available at the following links:

Consult the readme file for installation instructions and a list of addressed issues, and be sure to get the correct update for your operating system (32-bit or 64-bit).

Last Day for AU Proposals!

Okay, all you pressure-prompted people! The time for procrastinating is past!

Today’s the LAST DAY to answer the Call for Proposals for AU 2012.

You don’t have to have the whole class written, just a synopsis. Classes can be tips & tricks (your favorite hints for a particular product), workflows & processes (how you use multiple products together), case studies (how Autodesk software made a project run faster/smoother/cheaper)…the content is truly limited only by your imagination.

So be creative, and get those proposals in!

Try something new: Project Blink

Autodesk Labs has a limited number of spots available for users who want to try out Project Blink, which provides the ability to access your design software from anywhere. To participate in this beta, please fill out this short survey.

AU Proposals Due Soon!

Did you know that speakers at AU 2012 get free admission to the entire conference? It’s true! That’s in addition to the prestige of adding “AU Instructor” to your resume…and the speaker shirt to impress your friends.

The Call for Proposals site is live for just a few more days—wait too long and you might miss it.

So all you procrastinators out there (personally, I prefer the term “pressure-prompted”) better get busy! Submit your classes by Tuesday, May 22nd for consideration!
